Our Research

We are interested in deciphering the mechanistic basis for how alterations in chromatin architecture by chromatin modifiers regulate gene expression. We tackle this problem in two ways, the first strategy relies on the recombinant over expression or endogenous purifications of highly pure chromatin modifier assemblies for structural and functional characterization using cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM), mass spectrometry and biochemical assays. The second strategy which we plan on delving more and more into in the coming years is to characterize the native assemblies in situ using cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET).
